How to convert Max files to Flash?
For many of us, we work in a number of different mediums and the problem is that many of our programs and the companies that make them generally don't like each other, which makes it hard to exchange files from one program to another. Although I don't know much about the relationship between Adobe and Autodesk, the programs 3D Studio Max and Flash are not compatible together. But there are ways around their incapability and here is a list on how to get your 3D models, vectorized and into Flash.
Swift 3D Plugin: Probably the well known methods to import your models, Swift 3D has been around for years (2001) and offers many benefits including: a direct plug-in, complete animation conversion, and awesome quality. I can attest for this program as it has served me well over the past couple of years on a variety of projects, as creating Flash files is just a simple matter of installing a plugin and pressing a button.
Vecta3D: Offers a $70 price cut from Swift3D, and offers many of the same features as Swift3D but after getting familiar with outputs from both programs, Swift3D is the obvious winner.
Flash 8 Video Encoder: If both of the programs aren't accessible, you could attack the problem on the video side of things. Thanks to Flash 8, there is a new video encoder that allows you to transform your video into '.flv' , which happens to be the same format that Youtube uses. So after you finish your animation in Max, save the file as an AVI and then drag and drop the video into Flash 8 Video Encoder, and you will have a .flv file that is safe to imput into a Flash library or stage.

You can also go about it by rendering your animation to bitmaps, and then insert the bitmaps in Flash, converting them to vector (can't remember the name of the fuction right now). However this takes a lot of work, and the filesize needs to be reduced, be manually deleting the background color, that is embedded to every bitmap.
It's free, but you have to work for it. I've used this for simple logo animation.
